Flip side
by Meredith Breeden

You've heard about the tree that does not choose
who smells its flowers or eats its fruit.
Nobody has said anything about the passersby.
The ones who pluck green fruit and curse the tree
for its bitterness.
Or the ones who mourn overripe fruit puddled
on the ground swarmed by bees.
Where is the one who watches,
and when the fruit is just right gently gathers it
and enjoys it with family and friends?

Taming
I see you again
watching me.
I have less fear
more curiosity
You move,
I am gone.

I see you again,
closer you come.
STOP!
Do I run?

I take one step, two steps,
almost touching.
Staring,
green eyes
blue eyes.
I'm warning you!

What do I do?

Orange Freeze
1 small orange, peeled
1/2 cup orange juice
1 packet vanilla drink
4 ice cubes
Blend orange, juice, and drink. Add ice cubes one at a time until thick and frothy. Freeze for about one hour. Great on hot summer days!
